Student Health Care

Visiting address: Opintie 1 , Kajaani , Tieto 1 building

Kajaani University of Applied Sciences has its own student health centre called VITAL. This health-care service is available to all our students.

The public health nurses of Vital can be reached

  • without an appointment, Mon–Fri, 8:00–9:30 a.m. (arrive by 9.00 to make sure there’s time for the appointment)
  • for telephone advice daily 11:30 a.m.–12:15 p.m
  • by appointment

First year students have a possibility to make an appointment for a health check-up during the first study year.

In addition to the public health nurses, services of a general doctor are available three  times a week. An appointment will be given based on an assessment made by the public health nurse. An appointment fee must be paid by those over 18 using student healthcare services, for the first three visits to a doctor within the same calendar year. In 2017, the customer fee for one visit will be €20.90, with a maximum fee for one customer amounting to €62.70 in one year. These three visits to the doctor include visits to the student healthcare doctor and doctors based at the health centre.

Please note! The above fee is payable by EU-citizens and those who have registered Kajaani as their home municipality. For non-EU-citizens and for those who have not registered with the Register Office, the fee may be higher.
